- To promote a greater appreciation of music in NUS, and in particular, the music played by a Chinese Orchestra.
- To improve the performance of the Orchestra.
- To project and uphold the image of the Orchestra and NUS in the music circle.
- Create a conducive environment for fostering close ties and team spirit among its members.
- Provide every opportunity for its members to participate in various practices and upgrade their skills in music.
- Make every effort to participate in musical activities and performances where the image of the Orchestra and the NUS could be projected.
- Establish and maintain funds for the operation and benefits of the Orchestra.
- Extend support and assistance, where possible, to other musical groups of The Centre for the Arts.
- Do such other things within the legitimate framework of the NUS and, in particular, The Centre for the Arts as will appear necessary and expedient for the accomplishment of the Objectives of the Orchestra.
